Artwork on wood can be cradled by a crisscross network of substrate made of hardwood like oak, cherry, maple, or mahogany constructed into lattice strips and crisscrossed in a grid form. Only one side is attached on the back of the panel. The other side slides freely to allow expansion of wood.
