Simon Liu, Inc. - Mechanical Stretcher
  Mechanical Stretcher

This stretcher utilizes a Tite-Joint ® fastener and two guiding pins for the connecting miter and butt joint. Keying is limited but the joints are stronger if keying is done properly.

The original design of this hardware is to tighten, not expand. You are actually loosening and pushing out the hardware to tighten the canvas. The collapsing of the canvas is actually holding the stretcher together. Wood shims are highly recommended for keying. After the proper tension is achieved, place wood shims between the hardware and guiding pins to hold the tension, then tighten the hardware to stabilize the joint.

There are two profiles available. Continuous bevel will be constructed out of sugar pine. L-shape profile will be constructed out of basswood in various thicknesses.
