Sealing is highly recommended especially for wood panels because sealing reduces moisture absorbency. There will be less chance of warping or twisting.

We recommend Zinsser Clear Shellac. Shellac is an alcohol-based solution that dries to transparent films. Apply one thin coat around the panel, and gesso can be applied directly once the face is sanded off.

B.I.N. is a shellac-based white-pigmented primer and sealer. The finished coat has a rich uniform appearance. The finish resists dirt better, has better scrubbability and cannot be chipped or scraped off easily. Excellent for displays and pedestals.
