Hand-Primed Canvas

Via a boutique rack-mounted method that stretches out the canvas for optimal application and precision, our canvases are hand primed by experienced artisans in our Brooklyn studio.

A range of primers and mediums are available, including but not limited to, clear, white, and black gesso, tinted gesso, titanium oil ground, watercolor ground, modeling paste, matte medium, hide glue sizing, or PVA. We specialize in accommodating custom orders using our clients’ specified processes that simply can’t be handled by mass market providers.

Some clients, for example, prefer “raw edge priming”, where the surface is primed but the edges remain untouched. And, as always, we pride ourselves on striving to accommodate unique requests and finding the best collaborative solution all completed in-house in Brooklyn.

A minimum order of six yards is required for our hand-primed services.
