What is an Italian Style Stretcher?

A specialty option typically for conservators, our Italian Style Stretcher is a modification of a mid-19th-century design, featuring a simple closed mortise and tenon joint with interlocking forked key. 

This centralized-joint setup provides superior grip for the keys and therefore minimal torque when keying out.
